| relationship between stress and sleep |
This morning on one of the morning wake-up shows they were talking about how much or rather how little sleep we are getting. They also pointed out that the lack of sleep is attributing to fatigue, weight gain, inability to focus and concentrate, as well as a number of other problems.
The point is that we as Americans are over stressed as they pointed out in the story and we need to either reduce some of the stress in our life or we are going to continue on a road of poor health. I’m a big believer that sleep is important…it’s when our body does all the repair process and when we don’t get enough sleep, we don’t allow our body to repair.
Instead of taking sleeping pills each and every night we need to start or stop doing so many activities at the end of the day that stimulate us. Think about the old days when the sun went down….we started to quiet down. NOT anymore! As soon as the sun goes down we are still playing video games, searching the web, reading e-mails, watching exciting movies, WORKING…..The point is that we are jamming so many activities in our day that we over-stimulate our brain. This causes a huge chemical imbalance of all our neurotransmitters (NT), our brain messengers and this is why it is so hard to fall asleep.
This is one of the main reasons I designed Neuro Calm. We needed to rebalance those NT and help the brain calm down and relax in order to fall asleep. If you’ve been having trouble falling asleep…it’s more than NOT drinking coffee at night….but you also have to quit doing things that stimulate your brain and overdrive your adrenal glands. Neuro Calm will work wonders, but you just can’t shut your lap top, or turn the video game off at 10 pm and hope to fall asleep in ten minutes. If you’re hoping you can keep your same schedule and fall asleep in ten minutes…maybe you do need a sleeping pill, but you’re never going to overcome your sleep problems until you start changing some of your habits
